What type of tradesman would I get to do some repair work before decorating?

Our house is 6 years old, has LOTS of settling cracks and the builders paint is chipping off in chunks now. I'm afraid to touch any of the cracks in case huge chunks of plaster come away. There are quite a few corners where I can't tell how deep the cracks go.

This person would also need to be able to replace skirting boards and architrave. Do painter/decorators do this type of work also?

If you know a painter just ask them if they can do skirting etc. aswell, or if you know a chippie, ask them if they're willing for some filling. Neither of these jobs are rocket science, plenty of handy men would be delighted with the work.
