i was looking at taking on a lad for the spring on a par-time basis. two days a week, milking and general farm duties.
he has experience but not in the last 10 years, he'd be on the social and working for me two day a week, all above board.

any idea what to pay him per hour

    thanks

how many hours , i am half thinking of just getting some one 3 days a week , a bit similar to you. i was thinking 80 euro a day , or is that too much ?

12 - 13hrs a day till early june then about 11hrs or even milking plus a few hours, fairly flexible after the spring.
i had thought e10/hr, maybe thats a bit much.
unfortunately around here lads havent realised the celtic tiger is dead, skinned and lying on some ones floor somewhere.
minimum wage for experiance agri worker is e9.10/hr

We are paying 10 for good workers with experience. Sure I know I could get someone with no experience for 8 but they would end up costing me more in down time.

the normal minimum wage is under 8 euro an hour , i am assuming in your 12-13 hr day there is a lunch and breakfast break? if a lad is getting 80 euro cash i think they would be doing well, but the other side of the coin is that if you where to get some one in to do the 2 milkings only that would be 80 euro alone... yes the celtic tiger has alot to answer for

that what i thought the min wage was, looked it up and it is e9.10 for experienced agri worker rising to e9.33 in july.
half hour for breakfast and hr for lunch, breakfast provided and free to go home for lunch if wanted. don't believe in paying anyone cash in hand.
wicklow frs wanted e120 for 6hrs milking, bloody hell.

exactly what i though agri contractor, with the extra e/hr comes extra responsibility. for that e10 have they any holiday entitlements and do they look after all taxes etc. usually get staff through frs so not sure as to rights and direct employment.

side note anyone know how to change the $ key on keyboard to euro sign, starting to bug me.
