    Hi all,

I`ve been reading many threads regarding Saorview, Saorsat, Freesat, Freeview etc. over the past few months and have seen many upset consumers not happy that their TV is not compatible with free TV offerings for many different reasons

But the one question that comes to my mind when reading these threads is: how any people will actually use the services and for what use?

So I have created a poll to satisfy my curiosity;)

Why do you require/currently use Saorview, Saorsat, Freesat, Freeview? 48 votes

As a free alternative to a cable/satellite TV subscription

SKY/UPC or other offerings not available in my area
    79% 38 votes
Multiroom usage in conjuction with a cable/satellite subscription
    2% 1 vote
Do not use any free TV offerings

    FYI - I chose option 3
I use SKY for my main living room and will be feeding coaxial cables to my kitchen and bedrooms from my satellite dish for freesat, i`ll then install an outdoor aerial for these rooms for saorview(which is a very impressive offering IMO)
I need my SKY for my HD Football addiction:-)

Just dumped Sky after 10 years subscribing. Will be saving 100 a month! Bought a Humax Freesat HD PVR and installed an aerial for Saorview.

I found I was not watching as much football as I used to so felt 100 a month for sports (incl ESPN and HD) and not much else was not worth it. Outside of live sports, most of what we watch is on free tv.

Will see how I get on for the rest of the season without live Premier League. May pay for a Cyfra+ package if I cannot do without it. Already have a dish point at Hotbird for Spanish TVE for the missus.

    Hi Tonio,

Sounds like we have similar needs:-)

I would love Sky to come up with a package for only the 5 HD sports channels, I do not need any of the other channel subscriptions as the only thing I need TV channels for are news and live sport, all my other TV shows are obtained through alternative methods;)

Might i suggest that a category is also added for people who only wish to avail of Saorview and are only replacing their existing analogue aerial(s).
We don't have much time for tv viewing in our house but I am looking forward to a much improved picture quality on the 4 channels we currently have ;-)
