Query for the professionals regarding replacement teeth options

    Hi there,

I would be grateful if some of the Dentists on this board could give me some advice regarding my options on replacing approx. 5 lower front teeth that are loose and painful.

I made an appointment with a clinic in Limerick for next week (just happened to walk in). Both the dentist and the nurse were great, really put me at ease.

I had planned to get implants done somewhere in Ireland, but after a discussion with this clinic, it seems there are options out there that are much less expensive. They do involve dentures, but seemingly not the ones I had envisaged - the ones our parents might have worn and took out over the dinner table

The dentist mentioned false teeth that would be tied to existing teeth and it was better to go for the metal option rather than the acrylic option. (Even though the dentist mentiond it, I can't remember exactly the technical term for this....sorry)

Any suggestions, comments, thoughts and other alternatives welcome.

    Thanks!
    Martin.

You are considering a cobolt chromium denture. This is far superior to an all plastic denture, assuming it is done correctly.

Bridgework could be an option depending on the teeth left either side of the gap. Other options are to salvage the loose teeth as overdenture abutments. There are loads of options. Implants are great but there not the solution for every dental problem. Best really to take your dentists advice as he/she will have a better understanding of you clinical situation. If the dentists is nice I would listen to their opinion and dont be afraid to ask questions.
