Surprised to see Anglo''s former head Fitzpatrick owned this heap of sh1te! It hasn't even got genuine alloy wheels!

Anyone know was this a 5th or 6th car?!

Im pretty certain he was driving a 2008 CL500/600. That would have been owned by the bank though Im sure and it is long gone at this stage. Im sure this old bmw was something they probably bought new & its still hanging around.

I really hate the way the media and gardai refer to BMW and Mercedes model cars as just that, they never detail the facts on what the car is, in this case it's a poverty spec (even by Irish standards) 3 Series which at the time was the cheapest model purchasable. Descriptions by the Gardai are usually something along the lines of...a blue BMW car was seen leaving the area, could literally be any one of about 50 different model cars based on what's on sale here, 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 8 Series, X5, X3 and every estate, saloon, coupe variation on top of that.

The car really is a poverty spec as well. From the reg Mywheels says it is a 316i. Which was a poor mans BMW even in 1992. I can't believe it fetched as much as €1,200 at auction. €200 would be about its value on a private sale I'd say.

It was certainly worth the 1200 to the company that bought it,look at the advertising they got off the national tv news and papers. They had 2 big stickers down both sides of the car.

Fitzpatrick's normal car is a 07 black Passat Comfortline. Have seen him driving it quite regularly. He was never a man for flash cars.

The description (by the tabloid press) that this heap of a BMW is some how luxury is quite laughable. Also is the case in describing his house as "luxury", exclusive etc.., it is a very moderate house, that is worth no more than 500-600k. Hardly living it up in fairness!

Stick a cage in it, a bit of sponsorship from NAMA, and do the National Championship :D

The publicity around it was well worth the €1,234.56 ;)

You may be right about the car but you are wrong regarding the value of his house. This property is a prime residence in a much sought after area.
With drop in property prices this house would be now valued way in excess of a million.

Are we sure that this was actually his car? Could it have been a car that was just left outside his house in protest? I ask this because those green stickers down the sides of the car may say something like "Anglo lives here" or something like that if ye get me....

    From Irish Independent 29/1/09:

"Mr FitzPatrick has been spotted in the area since his return from holidays and parks his black Mercedes CL 500 near the office"

If I remember rightly, it was an 08.

Good point I wonder did any money change hands at all and was this figure just put down to give to the media. I think there is a bit of spin and manipulation going on with this car either way.
