I have an interview next week for an entry level role in fund accounting and im not too sure what i'm expected to know for the interview. I would like to learn more about the aspects of hedge fund accounting but we never really dealt with this area in detail at college. If anybody has done a similar interview any pointers would be much appreciated

I haven't done an interview, but at the least you should know what hedge funds are, how they work, how to calculate NAVs, etc. Hours can be long or anti-social at times, and you will have people arguing with you over valuations so there is probably a focus on communication skills. Just be prepared for the interview, know the basics and know a little about the company, the industry and the job.

You don't need any technical skills or knowledge so don't worry if you didn't cover it in college.

yeah thats about right, ive interviewed a few people for these roles, get a good background on the company, know what a hedge fund is, know some basic accountancy, what an accrual is etc..

Maybe have couple of situations outlined of when you worked in a team, dealt with a conflict etc..

All they will probably be looking for is someone thats keen, has a bit of cop on and has done their research, shouldn't be too technical for entry level.

    Good luck!!
