Downloaded BluRay Movies

Here is my set up. I have a laptop with a HDMI port and a HDTV which also has a HDMI port. With a simple cable attached between the two I can easily watch downloaded movies that have been saved to my Hard Drive.

My query is this if I download a BluRay movie to my laptops HD and watch it via the television will it be shown in BluRay or just in conventional DVD format.

    Many thanks for your input.

    Kevin

It will look like a bluray copy.

I have a similar setup except my laptop doesn't have a HDMI port, I watch 720p copies and the quality is fantastic.

as he said it will look like a bluray copy..it won't be exactly 1080p or 720p if it's a rip usually 720p rips are between 1280x680 to the full 1280x720 same with 1080p rips are between 1920x980 and 1920x1080 but either way a few less pixels are not that noticeable tho just look at the resolution before you download..this is not the only determinant of quality but it's a good start

The only other thing you need to be sure about is that when your laptop switches over to your HDTV that the resolution changes to 1080p (1920x1080px) Sometimes it might switch to your laptops current resolution or 720p. If you have Windows 7 you'll usually be fine as its pretty good at picking up your HDTVs native res and then remembering it for each time you connect to it.
