I've used a few but I find Guarders the best

Guarder for the rubber, sure. For the unit itself, not so much. Guarder units are fine. They're about as good as a stock one really.

Why changing the unit? I've got the same plastic G&G hop unit in two rifles and both are just fine. I ask simply because changing the rubber is often confused with changing the whole unit, where the rubber is the upgrade that makes the dramatic range difference. The unit really only needs to be replaced if damaged or has an air seal issue (also there's always the odd one that's just cack, usually on clones though).

If you're upgrading the unit because it's damaged or what-have-you, the Prometheus and Madbull ones would be my top choices, paired with a barrel of the same brand.
Prommy have a deserved reputation for high quality and close tolerances, and Madbull's new hop design is a hybrid which gives great performance and some nifty special features.
Either way, I'd pair your choice of the two with a tightbore of the same brand for maximum performance benefit.

The others are no better or worse than stock units, so if the one in your rifle isn't damaged or leaking, there's little point. Even changing for the two units above will provide an almost imperceptible difference in performance.

If using guarder unit be careful- the adjustment wheel can require modification-found one to be too wide but filed it down to fit-heard someone say the same of the madbull unit but have'nt used one myself.Another thing to consider would be to use the lever(that pushes on the nub)off the G+G. On careful examination I found the guarder one pressed down on a slightly different spot on the hop rubber. It is made to match guarder barrells on which the slot on the barrell is not as long as other units-hope this confuses you a little more:D:D:D

Prommy's have good reps. I've used their barrels, but not their hops yet.

Madbulls new hop unit, however, I have intentions on trying out. I like the G36 style hop dial, it's a lot more accurate, and the airseal provided is supposed to be superior.
I'm also fond of the ability to add in an ultra violent package for using tracer rounds without needing a tracer unit on the muzzle.
Most of my rifles have Madbull barrels now anyway, so it'll be interesting to see the performance difference.

The G&P Hop up unit is seriously good quality. Very solidly built, easy to adjust and it holds its adjustment perfectly.

I use it with a Guarder clear for the moment...but I do plan on trying other rubbers; G&G Green, King Arms Blue (40 degree) etc
