Hi Folks, Thinking about going on a J1 but the group is mixed between 20 and 21 year olds. Is it worth J1-ing under 21? Not from the alcohol side of things but in terms of being considered an adult in the US, car rental etc. Thanks!

You have to be 25 or over to rent a car in most american states, massive surcharge in other states that will allow you rent them.

To be honest, I went when I was 19 and the only thing it affected was buying drink, so just got others to buy it for me.
