Eyebrow Make Up

I have very light eyebrows compared to my natural hair colour. I usually just go over my eyebrows with an eyebrow brush like this putting some of my eyeliner (brown or black) onto the brush tips and then going over my eyebrows. I know it's not the proper way to do it so I'm wondering how to define your eyebrows properly and make it look like you have strong natural eyebrows without looking too fake.

Basically like Cici has here from Fade Street.

Benefit Brow Zings is your best bet! I swear by it, it's a kit of two little brushes, a teeny tweezers and a wax and powder. You can fill them in as subtly as you like, it doesn't budge and it lasts forever!

I believe Penneys does a similar kit, I think it's called Take a Brow, but if its not then that is an excellent name for a brow kit! A friend got it and was very pleased with it but said that it was a really bulky package. Can't personally vouch for it, but I think it's about a fiver so no great outlay if it's not the best.

    Good luck!!

Eyeliner is possibly too dark? I use a small angle brush (fairly sure it's this one - http://www.boots.com/en/Ruby-Millie-i-Define-Brush_927630/ - and should be practically free with your No 7 voucher at the moment, yes I assume everyone has the No 7 vouchers) and a Mac eyeshadow (era) to fill mine in.

Don't know which of the Fade St girls you mean - have never seen it - am assuming it is one of teh middle two.

When using your brush, do small little brush strokes in the direction of hair growth so they look more like hairs rather than being painted on in one full swoop. Depending on what type of brush you use will vary the result. The thinner the better!

I am fair (blonde) and when i'm getting my eyelashes done - i also get a tint in my eyebrows- the first time i got it done i thought i was very dark-but i love them now. I always ask for the lightest colour ie. brown.
I would recommend it to everyone.:)

I am fair but have nicely shaped brows which are a sort of muddy blonde colour.

I define my brows using an eyebrow brush and a shade of Bobbi Brown eyeshadow called "Blonde" (it's designed to be used on brows). Sometimes I use her Blonde eyebrow pencil (which is much softer and creamier than other brow pencils I have tried; I wouldn't use any other pencils for this reason, look is too severe). I fix everything with BB Natural Brow Shaper in Blonde (a tinted fluid brow setter/groomer). I get a lot of compliments on my eyebrows, so I guess it's not the worst look!

Not affiliated with Bobbi Brown at all, despite how that sounds!

I have Brows A Go Go from Benefit, which is pretty much the same as Brow Zings, with an added pale pink shimmer shadow and Eye Bright.

    I'd recommend it to everyone.

The brush makes it so easy to sculpt your brows and it's essentially foolproof, if you take your time applying the wax and / or powder and go easy with the amount you use!

Paying attention to your brows actually makes such a difference to your face!

So very true. Often, if I don't have a chance/am not inclined to do a full face of make-up, I'll just do my brows and put on mascara, and already look so much more polished.

Re: the Fade Street brows; I saw ten minutes of that show and turned it off because it is so depressing, but I really think those girls have permanent make up on their brows. Their brows look sort of like stuck on/moulded on/plastic rather than like hair? I probably sound mad now. I've thought it about Oprah's brows before too. Slightly obsessed with a good brow, I am.

+1 for the Benefit Brow Zings, it's excellent and even comes with two tiny brushes

Thanks for your tips guys. So you reckon I should go with a brow kit? I know that someone posted in the Latest Purchases thread saying they got the Urban Decay brow kit for €7! Only thing was, it was n a pharmacy in Sligo :(

Anyone know of any other decent brands that would be doing brow its for less than say €15 in the Dublin area?

It's the girl on the left as we're looking at it, the one with the quiff. My hair is a dark brown, and when I dye it, it's a plum colour but my eyebrows are quite light, blondish.

BTW I have a brush from the Bobbi Brown brush set.

I was going to go for the tint but I'd be worried it would be too dark. Even then I've got stray hairs so it wouldn't fill in between the hairs.

Other thing is, I was wondering about stencils, do I need them? My mate bought this eyebrow kit in the RDS last year at the Woman's World Show which had a stencil which she held to her eyebrow and then shaded in using an brush provided and an eye colour kit.

Well I use the Mac brow pencil as its very fine and makes good thin lines like hairs. No need for a brush.

The MAC one is great. I'm currently using the Chanel eyebrow pencil in Blonde and like it a lot. It has a wee brush on the end too.

Another vote here for the MAC Brow pencil. I use the shade Lingering (I'm blonde).

I have light blonde eyebrows and I've been using a Rimmel eyebrow pencil in Hazel for years. It's very natural, just do small strokes. Also, do make sure they are the right shape for your face, bad brows ruin a face!

+1 I use this one too! Love it! Especially love the eye bright, I think it makes a huge difference! Since getting it, I wouldn't dare go out without it. :D Well worth the money too considering how long it lasts IMO. Cute little hand-bag sized box too. :)

I have this one too, and I always get complimented on my brows. I have it in a darker shade though. Even to just have in your travel makeup case, it's really really good and worth the money for it.

I have a good kit from Sephora and have used benefit's brow zings as well. I have to say the Penny's Take a Brow kit is a great dupe for the Sephora one and is only about €4. It even has eyebrow stencils.

Another recommendation here for the rimmel eyebrow pencil!! I have been using for years too.

I use the eyebrow kit from ELF. linky

Must do an order from there, it's a great site, very good prices!

Another vote for Benefit Browzings - excellent product that'll last forever but it is expensive so may be worth trying out the Pennys version. In fact I may get one for my handbag as I'm always afraid of losing my Browzings if I have it out with me.

Does the browzings have stencils? I would be wanting a stencil to get it right, I have an inability to create shapes that are in any way symmetrical.

I have brown hair but black eyebrows, and I find the eyebrow gel thing in benefits Smokey Eyes kit fantastic! I'm considering investing in Browzings as the gel in the kit is almost all used up; I'm assuming I could easily find the right shade again!

I use the No 7 light brown pencil (its a good dark blonde colour) to darken and then I set with essence clear mascara - works for me anyway!

I have almost transparent eyebrows. Very blonde. Never done anything with them, never plucked/waxed them or anything! However last week a make-up artist did my make-up and darkened my eyebrows with pencil (I think)...first it looked very dark but then I got used to it. Looked nice! Might try it myself. I just don't know about the idea of blonde hair and darker brows :/
