Rent to Buy- Rent Relief

    Hi Guys,

I went on the Rent to Buy scheme back in July 09. In July 2010 I realised I was wasting my time paying high rent prices (€1,100 per month) when a bank would more than likely not give me a mortgage at the end of the 18 months. I spoke to my landlord and he agreed to 'pause' the RTB scheme and just rent the house at a reduced rate to me.

What I would like to know is- can I claim rent relief on the RTB rent I have paid? If I can, can I claim back as far as July 2009. Any help would really be appreciated. I've tried ringing the landlord but there has been no reponse.

    Thanks in advance
