    here is a couple of pictures take a couple of years ago of muntjac damage done in a wood neat grathan waters in england. the area was only fenced of a couple of years previous to see what damage the muntjac are doing to the under growth vegetation of our natural woodland. it was taken about the 18th of march just as the new growth was starting to sprout.
    i did my little bit to help out.

    Check out this paper, in particular regarding confirmed reports, also check out the map;

    There seems to be more reports from 'official' sources than whats doing the rounds. The big question mark is the cull returns from licences which indicate several animals shot in several counties. You might ask who would in their right mind make up porkies on their cull return to become the focus of official scrutiny. As far as I know the NPWS have not commented publicly on the extent of verification of cull returns.

    The hard weather might have curtailed them a bit as they don't cope very well with harsh weather.

    There was a post up by Fergal As Luimenach recently about a Muntjac shot recently in west wicklow. However personally without a photograph, I'm completely sceptical.
