Timing covers for Peugeot 405/205 gti XU engine 1.6 petrol

    Hi lads

    I'm having an awful load of trouble trying to find some decent timing covers for this engine. For all the other engines in these cars you can still get them but not this. The ones I have are completely shagged with large pieces missing, one i might be able to re-use but is also brittle as anything. No dealer can order them, ebay or parts websites don't seem to have them.

    things are getting fairly desperate, it would be a shame to throw away a perfectly good car over a few bits of plastic. the only options i see now is to buy a whole engine for it but that is a lot of trouble to transport and they are probably brittle on that too, or try to make my own cover out of sheet metal. no scrapyard in Ireland seems to have them, cant find any in england either.

    any ideas?
