Are vaccinations necessary for Morocco?

Just looking for some guidance. My OH is going to Morocco next month on a photography trip with college and is getting mixed messages about getting vaccinated.

Some of the class aren't bothered, some have been and got them and the rest are like himself - don't know what to do!

I've looked on the Moroccan Embassy website and they say that they're not necessary, yet other people are telling himself that if he's staying in town/city areas he'll be ok but if he goes off the beaten track (quite likely) then he should get them done.

So what's the definitive answer guys? Has anyone been out there recently with any better knowledge.

    Thanks.

    Molly

Went there for a week and never got any.

If in doubt ring a doctor that does vaccinations and ask their advice.

Just be careful of the food, ice cream and drinks. If he takes a walk around the Casbah with his camera he'll understand.

Was there for 2 wks two years ago. Travelled all over the country and didn't need any vaccinations, i visited my doctor before the trip to check, and none were necessary, like all of North Africa. As someone else said, just be careful where you eat as hygeine would not be of the highest standard in areas outside the touristy zones. If he is going to Agadir or any other tourist area, he will be fine.

Thanks for all your replies. I'll let him read this thread and then he can make up his own mind. Personally, I'd take a chance but you never know ... :)

I have been to Morocco twice, the longest period being 3 weeks. No vaccs needed but unless your digestive system is made of platinum you will pick up stomach bugs. Bring any medication you can for all digestive ailments , boil all tap water for cooking etc and brush your teeth with Bottled water.
