Job seekers allowance means test

    Got my means test today the woman wanted to see bank account statements which is fair enough then she asked for credit union statement I have a bit of money put by here so didn't bring it with me neway just wondering are they entitled to look at your credit union account seems very intrusive??

    So you've no problem letting her see your bank statements....but you don't think she should be allowed to see your credit union statements.....I'm failing to see your logic here, surely they're basically the same thing in this instance.

    The property and investments that may be assessed include savings in a bank account (or anywhere else)...

    Bear in mind that the first Euro 2O,OOO in savings is not assessed as means.

    why did they ask for both did you say you had a credit union acc? im sure they are allowed ask for both

    well she didnt ask had I credit union ac but asked what accounts I had didnt want to withold information as I'm sure thiis would lead to trouble.

    oh right just go ahead if they want it! they might not ask for it again and as above the first 20.000 is not taking into account

    ye have to send it off to her so guess i will. On anotner matter can you check prsi contributions online as I was working from June 2009 to may2010 just wondering when this comes into play with jsb thanks.

    If that is all you worked, you will be unlikely to get anything from JSB. The contribution year is the calender year, so you will have some weeks in 2008 and some in 2009. Have a look at www.welfare.ie to see the qualifying conditions for JSB.

    So if one has below 20,000 euro in savings, you state this on your means test form and you should get Job's seeker's allowance after the 1 year of JSB?
