Insurance quotes seem to be random and arbitrary sometimes, some crowd that is regarded as older and safer drivers only may give you a good quote and another in the young drivers market may rob you blind.
Consider doing an advanced drivers course, you could get knocked off a few quid for that, ask at whoever you're calling.

+1 OP. There's no magic way of finding the cheapest/best quote.

There is only one way to do it. Take out the phone book and ring around to all the brokers and insurance companies you can.

Cool. Just be sure to shop around. I got some "reasonable" quotes last year, but ended up finding a quote 200 cheaper than it.

And ring around, as the online quoting systems are rubbish for younger (<25) drivers.
