    Hey,

I'm moving to Thurles for college in September and I've been looking at the student accommodation. There are two well known student 'villages' Gasworks and Stradavoher.

Anything I have read about Gasworks hasn't been great, apparently they can be damp and very cold during winter. They are all roughly €60 to €70 per week as far as I know.

Hope that's of some help :)

I would definitely recommend student village over gasworks especially for first year, though both are cold all year round.

Did you end up moving into them?

I'm a mature student so I think I might look for somewhere else, say they are better suited to first years just out of school..although I could be wrong.

    :)

i am currently living in the student village. It is good in terms of student accommodation in general. It really depends on how "mature" you are. in pros it is the best place to know what is going on and to make friends. the price is reasonable. In cons It can become difficult to get anything done on a Thursday night as Thursday is student night and the noise level tends to go up in the village. The student is also just for students whereas gasworks is for anyone. hope this helps
