Tribunal after tribunal - never any prosecutions? Or are there?

I'm not from a legal background so excuse the silly question, but over the past 2 decades we have had millions spent (wasted) on tribunals into corruption, church abuse, various other things which all conclude that wrongdoing has occurred, so why do we never see any convictions after them?

The biggest examples are obviously politics and the church, where named individuals are alleged/adjudged to have acted improperly but yet nothing seems to happen.

    Why is this?

IIRC, Ray burke was convicted of corruption and jailed as a result of the Flood Tribunal.

I've heard that some of the Tribunals actually made a profit, but I can't back that up, sorry.

how would they make a profit?

I presume that the logic seemingly here is that they would recover money from tax dodgers; not sure how we could make a profit on any of the Catholic inquirys though given that we've promised to bail them out as long as the Catholic Church pays compensation of €128 million (which they haven't yet done!).

Anyhow the tribunal's job is not to make money but to get truth. They wouldn't have cost half as much if those being questioned were up front from the start.

tribunals are nothing more than a chance for politicians to line the pockets of their solicitor/barrister friends

Has anyone heard of the Smithwick Tribunal? You never hear about it on the news. I only know about from passing the building. Its still ongoing after 5 years.

How many more of these ghost tribunals is there?

The US completed a 9/11 Commission in under 2 years.
