I am staunch FF and if I was as worried about what is happening right now in FF as the ABFF are I would be looking for medication !

So what party are you going to support when ff go down the same road as the pds

If sinn fein does bring about this no confidence vote, anyone who does plan on hanging around after the next election should seriously think about this vote because the voters may not forget it!

Just read it could be march by the time that motion is heard. So pointless at that stage.

Looked like we might have had a snap election for a bit there, and I honestly think FF would be hit harder if that happened than they last til March.
If they last til March I think FF TDs and candidates will semi-distance themselves from the party during that time and a good few will sneak in talking up what they'll do for their area.

    Disappointed.

Tbh if a man has a brass enough neck to stay around when he has brought financial ruin to the country, and been almost solely responsible for the IMF coming to these shores, then a bit of disquiet from his party certainly wont make him do whats right for the country. Stubborn beyond stubborn and thankfully the only people it will effect are those in his beloved FF

    Oh if only!

I hope Cowen survives this challenge, if one is indeed under way. I think if they get a few leader it might do them good in the next election, this would be very bad.

I think the longer Cowen stays there, the more damage he does to FF, and as long as he leads them into the election, the worse they will do.

Even if he does hang on, a total wipeout of FF is too much to hope for.

I don't know. If he hangs on it means the opposition parties can refer to how FF candidates didn't publicly condemn Cowen over the golf and dinners with Anglo directors. So FF TDs not walking now must prefer to have that bit of time to build themselves up to the extent of not walking.

Seriously why the f*ck aren't the greens putting an end to this?

They know they are a dead party walking and are trying desperatly to cling onto their ministerial pay and perks. Horrendous excuse for a party, and i voted for them last time out

Total cowards, and they prefer to just cling to power for as long as possible.

Gromley is totally spineless. All hot air they are, no action.

nice move by Sinn Fein, tabling a motion of no confidence, its very possible that many Fianna failers will use as their hassle free way of taking down Cowen.

Separately, Sinn Féin has announced that it has tabled a motion of no confidence in Mr Cowen on behalf of the Technical Group in the Dáil. In a statement, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin announced the seven members of the group had tabled the motion.
'This Taoiseach and this Government are completely discredited. No effort must be spared to remove them from office,' said Mr Ó Caoláin, who called on Fine Gael and Labour to support the motion.

He is sticking to his word, its just everybody took the greens up wrong. They meant they would pull out of government in January 2011 2012 !:rolleyes::p

From what I gather hot air is ozone friendly , dont go encouraging the Green's into thinking they are achieving something! !

Its also a way of further insuring that March indeed will be FF's last month.
Rather than face a possible humiliation of losing such a motion (never mind having to face another one), Cowen will bow out with the party in tow.

wrong letter there Gandalf. Seriously though, they are a belief system like the catholicism they're inextricably entwined with. Blind obedience on the part of their members and voters year in, year out. Depressing.

Biggins dude I wish you were right about March being their last month, but they still have a core (albeit dwindling) % who'll vote for them regardless.

"The Technical Group will not have a Private Members Business opportunity in the Dáil until the beginning of March. If this Taoiseach and Government are not gone by next week then Fine Gael should use their Private Members Time next Tuesday to have this motion put before the Dáil.

Indeed but the high expectations is that March is now the line in the sand for them.
If they drag it our beyond that, even the Greens know, they will have to plug the plug or be further publicly exposed as possibly licking FF's backside and possessing nothing short of cowardice.

Is it possible that it could be much sooner, if Fine Gael were to do something next week instead?

Yea, if FG don't allow their Dail time to allow the SF motion to go ahead, it appears that SF in their own time in March, will be the fall back application for this motion.

Kenny will have to decide now what is the best option for his party now and what decision to make that will give his own party best propaganda/gain.

That is very very interesting. Think I'll be contacting some FG TDs tomorrow and Monday, I really think the sooner this election happens the less FF TDs to be elected in the GE

I can't see them going down that route. The solidarity of the Fianna Fail party is very important to its members - if they want Cowen to go they'll do it internally.
