To get a car that failed the emissions test past it ?
Nope, never have, post up your emissions results :)

I used redex years back, threw it into various yokes I had, used it as a fuel treatment for a while, soon grow out of all that stuff though. I also used it as an engine treatment as per the directions on the pack, remove plugs, lash of redex in each cylinder and crank the engine with the plugs removed, nothing came out which was dissapointing :( However when I put the plugs back in there was a white smokescreen behind me for about 10 miles, was unreal, at traffic lights taking off you'd see nothing behind you in the rear view mirror :pac:

Throw it through the test first. See if it needs it. Diesel or petrol ?

Unless you reckon you have a problem it should pass, drive to the NCT with the car over 3000rpm and don't leave it get cold there.

Some folks swear by this stuff:

    Haven't tried it myself.

I have had the engine light on my 04 petrol golf on a few times in the last couple of years. Previous 4 times were down to coil packs and you could tell it by the lack of power. It's been on again for the last couple of months. I plan to test it and know that this light is not a fail on a petrol. Anyway had a bottle of redex that I got for free with oil, so whacked in a third of a bottle with thirty euro petrol. A couple of short runs that day followed by a fifty mile run yesterday. Light was still on all the time. But the next time I started it the light went out and has stayed out for the return journey. Can only have been the redex that caused this as no other part was changed. Not entirely sure why or what it did as I didn't get any diagnosis of the fault.
