Myself and Miss Gunner are thinking of travelling to India this year. Not into the hiking etc just something easy and comfortable.

Was looking at the Golden Triangle tour or This tour Gap Have travelled with Gap and found them good and would like to go with a tour guide.Looking at interpid travel also.

Would it be better to do the Golden Triangle then head to one of the beaches to finish off trip with relaxing time?

    Anyone with suggestions?

Hi op, myself and the hubby did Gap tour - AHEH (can't remember the title, search for it!) last October and we had an absolute ball! Highly recommended. there was a great mix of sightseeing and relaxing and we saw and did so much more than we could have done alone.

A few of the group continued on to another tour to the south and really enjoyed it, apparently like a different country down there :) I still think its worth seeing northern India as the chaos has to be seen to be believed!

If I were you, is do tour Aheh, then travel to GOA or kochin independently ... enjoy!

Cheers thanks for that trip looks good. Goes on for 15 days so have to speak to boss to give me 3 weeks off:rolleyes:

What was the accommodation like? I would sleep in most places but Miss Gunner would think other. Looking at going in Octobers time as Monsoon season should be finished then and should not be to hot

Weather was perfect in October, hot but not unbearable! Accommodation was very acceptable, it was dodge enough in Delhi (by European standards) but overall was great. there were some really nice heritage hotels we got to spend a few nights in in some of the villages, very unique in beautiful historical buildings.

Edit: if you're looking to save some days, the tour really doesn't start until day 2 (there is a meeting on the evening of day 1 only) and it really finishes on the second last day when you fly back from Varanasi to Delhi ..so you could shave these off if necessary! :)
