Anybody noticed that you can apply online now for the age card?

The website (agecard.ie) has been cleaned up a bit too.

    Sign of progress?

Would imagine it's easier to be fraudulent now and supply fake details.

I don't think I've ever thought this meme was suited to anything else... But seriously.. That is one cool story, bro.

Makes feck all difference. Instead of going into the station, filling out a form and handing over your money and photographs, now you apply and pay online, get the form sent out to you and still have to go into the station with your photos.

My local station only opens ridiculous hours, 10am-1pm or something, so I remember when I originally went to get my age card years ago, it was a pain in the arse trying to get into them as I was always in college when they were open!

Has anyone been refused booze for not having an age card? It happened to me recently, I had a passport but he said it was "age card only", didn't make sense, what if I was a tourist

I'm 25 so I'm rarely asked, maybe he didn't like the look of me...

Funny Story Happened me i was in the pub and handed in my age card getting a pint , he refuses it and says i cant accept that as age cards are easily faked . you can imagine my shock when he accepts a fellas provisional license that was behind me. Disgrace.. (Sorry bit off topic)

Thanks for this though. lost mine a while back, just sent away for it again. hopefully it wont talk 87 weeks to get here this time :p

Yup, did so 7 years ago when I first applied for a garda age card. Just got the form online but had to print it and fill it out and have it vertified by a garda and send it off. Took a month for it to come in the post though. Didn't know that you can apply directly online now though. Cool.

You can't. You still have to go into the station with the application and they still send it in for you. Doubt it will make it much more efficient.

It takes 4-6 weeks on average. If you still have your receipt you can go online and type in your ref number and it will tell you if it was processed. If it wasn't you have to go back to the g station. Hope this helps. :)
