I was typing in today's diet into a calorie counter, and my sodium intake came up waaay up into the red.

According to livestrong.com I should only have 1490 mg of salt a day... Quick googling says 6 g.

The cubes are 1700 mg, should I rule them out of my diet altogether? I've never attempted to make stock from scratch...

Is 6 g of salt a day a lot or a normal amount? Or should I be aiming for the 1490 mg?

6g is fine, get more into you if your active and sweat a lot. Have you got a link to the 1490 mg of salt recommendation? that seems ridiculously low, unless they meant sodium which is multiplied by 2.5 to get the salt amount
