Can a company trade in liquidation? I didn't think so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

Thanks OP - I've booked in a Valentine's treat for my girlfriend :)

Thanks to Mr. Liquidator too...though I can't imagine the staff being too happy about this. The liquidator exercises the power of the board of directors and can trade until the company is wound up and dissolved.

It's up to the liquidator - if he thinks he can maximize the return for the creditors by keeping a company going then he will. Although if I recall all dealings with a company once they go into liquidation form part of a separate trading relationship with the liquidator totally independent of any trading relationship that person or business had previously with the company now in liquidation.

Great price - cheers OP! Just a note for people here: unlike most of these sort of deals, upfront payment is not required for this - you can cancel without charge until 4pm on the day of arrival.

Firstly, thanks OP. I booked a room for our wedding anniversary. Plenty going on in Dublin on that date.

As the "cannot reload the requested page" It happened to me also. I just started the process again and filled in the form. Fine.

Now I just need to find a way NOT to book tickets for the ballet.
It may be 20 years of marriage but come on, I'm a farmer for goodness sake.:D:D:D

Liquidation not receivership any more... poor creditors - especially as the holding company was an unlimited one - never knew you could escape liability by going to the Isle of Man.

From my research it seems that the Lemongrass franchise Thai restaurant located in the hotel is pretty good... it'd save me driving all the way out to go eat at a different restaurant and then popping back.

Doubt if you'll get anywhere decent for a tenner in a taxi from Citywest - has the Luas opened up to there yet -or was Jim Mansfield due to hand over a wad to complete this. In fairness Citywest Hotel is a decent distance from the City Centre.

I think Brown's barn has re-opened on the Naas road that used to be a good spot for grub and it's only up the road - Kingswood Country House used to be good also a few years back

There is a place a 10 minute walk from the hotel, in Saggart Village, it is expensive enough though, but if you are not getting a taxi maybe you can afford :D I have never been in it, i usually just eat in the Hotel itself,

    Anyways if you are interested,

Theres a lemongrass onsite at Citywest! Went there and was very good.

A quick review of the hotel from my experience of staying there at Valentine's with my girlfriend:

The location is a bit far from the city - but that's just perfect for the getaway I planned. I stayed in an upgraded superior room (70 euro in the end) and it was lovely, bed was king sized with good firmness, bath had built in jacuzzi feature which was appreciated.

Staff were attentive and lovely, both at the hotel itself (reception, swimming pool, breakfast the morning after) and at the Lemongrass restaurant.

I just had to give my opinion after seeing the slating this hotel got on tripadvisor (plus the liquidation really made me doubt my choice). But I'm really happy I stayed there and if you can grab a bargain price I wholly recommend this hotel to others. It could be that during busier times mileage may differ but my personal experience was fantastic.

If I could give you two thanks OP I would ;) - one each from a happy girlfriend and boyfriend.

Used to be quality but went down the drain a few years ago. Avoid.

Nope not necessary, and if it wasn't necessary on Valentine's night... I suspect it won't be for any other day either ;)

We stayed on Saturday 19/02. Lovely hotel. Great staff. Good meal at a reasonable price, compared to similar hotels.
    Highly recommend.
    Thanks to the OP.
