basically i don't know what to do. i've been depressed before but tonight for the first time i tried calling samaratians i talked to the girl and just felt like an ass it wasn't her it was me. i just didn't know what to say. i just feel like crying, i'm a grown man and all i want to do is curl up in a ball and cry. My life isn't terrible i suppose but i just don't know what to do. nothing i do seems to keep me happy. i want to be happy but i just feel like crying most of the time. I don't know what to do. I'm in college doing something i love but it still does not keep me happy. i just don't know what to do. I know this sounds like a bit lacking on details but i just really need some help

You're the only person on the planet that can decide what makes you happy and what doesnt. But, as I keep finding out, every problem can be fixed. In fact, problems will always seem bigger in our heads as they are magnified as part of a defense mechanism.

My advice would be to address your problem as if you were helping someone else. You remove yourself from the pressure of it and approach it with a level head.

Go and see your GP. Continue to contact the Samaritans, you might be able to talk more the next time. It's very important that you get some professional help.

Dont feel that your problems are unimportant. Calling the samaritans was a good thing to do, phoning them was a first step in getting out of this. Help is there. www.aware.ie is another resource you may want to try. Also, dont be afraid to go to your gp, you will get advice there on dealing with your symptoms. You can beat this and get the joy back into your life.

I second Aware and the GP route. It really helped me when I felt exactly like you do now, and today I'm fine. There's help out there, really good help if you can just take the first step and contact them. Phoning the Samaritans was a good start, try and see it as the first step in getting control back. You mention that you're in college, a lot of colleges have counsellor's that you can go and talk to.

You deserve to feel well, and you can. Good luck.
