Any Triumph Dolomite/Toledo/FWD owners out there?

Hello all, I'm one of the growing band of Dolomite owners here and I'm interested in getting together a group of fellow Triumph Dolomite, Toledo, 1300 and 1500 owners for reasonably regular meets, perhaps bi-monthly, to share the trials and tribulations of owning one of these cars and maybe the odd road run/day trip too.

I'm a member of the UK club for these cars and they would be keen to have us on board if we decided to hook up with them. They're an extremely knowledgeable and helpful bunch and the club itself is a great source for difficult to find spares.

I'm up for it, anyone else?

    Cheers,
    Gary

Cheers Niall. I'd like to organise something for the Dolly owners specifically as I've been contacted by a few Irish owners through the Dolly club in the UK but we've never actually managed to meet up. We're spread around the place so could cause me some grief but i'm willing to give it a crack.

I might well be rejoining the TCOC soon enough anyway as I'm friendly with Damian, Frank Keogh and Ken Nolan. Do you know who lives out my way? There's a Stag in the estate opposite mine that I know of alright.

There are a few more victims that you could add to that list who are also Dolomite/Toledo owners, most living on the Northside,1 of the lads out your way has a TR6 and also had a Dolly Sprint which he sold at the show that was on in the Kennel Club in Swords, another past owner also lives in Swords he also sold his Dolly and bought a 6 but has since sold it and is looking for a Dolly again. Our next meet is on Sunday 30th Jan at 11.30am at The Silver Tassie, drop over to see some nice Cars and old Faces.

If he's looking for a car that needs putting back together, this looks a very good prospect!

No they're not his. He's posted a link on the Dolomite forum himself about this car. He reckons it's a bargain at the price it's going for. I think he's right, considering the price a top notch Sprint would make.

In the first link that you posted on the Octane forum, the one for the Dolomite Club Forum he states that he contacted that seller and asked him to remove picture of his car that he had used without his permission. Sorry if im wrong but thats the way im reading it.

You could be right Niall but none of those pics are Martin's. The way I read it was it looked so similar to his in mid-restoration that it could have been his. Magenta is so rare now on Dolomites. There could well have been a pic of Mart's car there when the ad first appeared. If there was it was gone by the time I saw it. But hey, we won't fall out over it! :D

Wow, only 2000 miles? I'd be scared to own something that rare.

Whereabouts are you based? Drop me a pm with your details as I really would like to round up some owners to have a meet, maybe in conjunction with the guys in the TCOC. I have 6 people signed up so far with a total of 10 cars. Not bad for starters but there's loads more out there.

    Resurrecting this thread!

I'm hoping to get a crew together sometime in the next month or two. Meeting at a show may be the way to go as the people I have interested so far are spread around the place, although all in Leinster at least.

If anyone owns a small saloon Triumph (Dolomite, 1300, 1500, Toledo) and is interested in what may well be a once off meet, please pm me with your details and i'll add them to my list. And if you know anyone who has one of these cars please tip them the nod as it would be great to have them along.

    Cheers!

Hi William, I never got this together, although I did get 7 or 8 names together. There's plenty of Dolly owners here now. Try contacting the Triumph Classic Owners Club. They meet up at least once a month and are a good crew. I've sold my 1850 so am currently classic free. No time etc. I had a '75 TC auto, imported from the UK. It was ice blue and I sold it to a guy in the Longford area about 6 or 7 years ago. They're pretty rare now. What colour is yours?

Its probably buried in a hedge or quarry but you never find out unless you ask ..

    Thanks

Are there any modern engine transplants popular for these circa 1980 dolomite sprints ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 291 ✭✭gfwd

A fella on the Dolomite forum in the UK has just plonked a Nissan 200sx engine into his Dolly. Seems to have worked out well. Vauxhall redtops have been used in Toledos too. The forum over there is a mine of info, well worth a look.

There's one on DD with an Astra 2.0 in it , I presume it's a red top.
