This one that was on BBC is very good, not sure where you would find it now though. http://www.bbc.co.uk/photography/genius/

Not much about digital though which seemed to annoy some people.

Would definitely recommend The Genius of Photography alright. Great introduction to many of the "greats" and guaranteed to get you googling some of them to see more of their work. Some pretentious gob****es of course, but worth the watch.

Some of these have already been mentioned:

    The Genius of Photography
William Eggleston in the Real World
    War Photographer
    What Remains
    Visual Acoustics
    Arakimentari
    Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Impassioned Eye
Jaques Henri Lartigue: The Boy Who Never Grew Up

There was one about Ansel Adams whose name I can't remember also.

The "Focus on Imaging" show in Birmingham is an excellent show. If you register on-line, admission is free, and if you book flights early enough, you'll get return flights for about €20.

Even if you're not in the market to buy anything, it's a great way to see what's available, and also some excellent seminars.

I go to it as often as I can. Check it out here: http://www.focus-on-imaging.co.uk/home.htm

ditto: picture quality isnt great, but its fascinating, especially the amount of time he spends printing each image
