I'm doing a level 5 plc and have been refused a grant as I have an ITEC level 2 diploma from a privately funded fee paying college. Has anybody else had this problem?

The rules are u must be going forward in the level of education. As ITEC is a higher course than Level 5 PLC u are not entitled to a grant and u are going backwards not forwards. Hope this explains it.

I got it sorted they were wrong. ITEC Level 2 is equal to FETAC Level 4 but thanks anyway.

Just curious about this, apologies for hi-jacking this thread also I just thought it may be better to post in existing threads

I mentioned in a previous thread that I did two years of a Level 8 third level course in 2005/2006 and the course I plan on re-entering as a Second Chance Mature Student in 2012 is also a level 8

I was planning on doing a Professional Evening Diploma in DBS in a business subject, because I thought it may help my experience and also help my chances of getting into the third level course I will be applying to. It is a 14 week course and this will be funded privately by myself.

I have also done a 1 year FETAC level 5 course back in 2006/2007 that I completed but I also funded it privately myself.

I am just wondering If having done the FETAC or if I do the Diploma will it affect my chances of recieving a grant? The Third level course I did initially was a level 8 and the one I wish to do in 2012 is also a level 8.

The Fetac or the evening course will not affect your level 8 in 2012
