Are you sure it didnt copy them somewhere first?

Sounds very strange that they would just delete without you confirming any such deletion.

Also, this may sound harsh but .... 2084 pictures, especially important ones!? And you left them on the card for how long?

There are programs to try recover them from a pc, not sure about memory card if the pc has taken them and auto-deleted them [which I highly doubt] They might have saved to somewhere off the desktop.

I've used Sandisk Rescue Pro a good few times and it's always worked. Make sure you don't put anything else on the memory stick.

would it work on a micro sd card?

Rescue Pro will work on any kind of card. Just connect the card to the computer with a card reader and then you just select the drive letter to recover from.

I have an old sd card that cant be read, not sure why but there is a brilliant photo on it that I really want.

Would it work on a corrupt card?

Probably not but might be worth a try anyway.

No 1 rule if you delete or wipe data that you want to recover is to avoid writing to the disk at all. If possible and there is a switch move it to read only.

I have used ddrescue and recoverjpeg on Linux. I managed to recover 1000s of photos that I thought were lost from multiple harddrives (even from a hard drive that kept failing after a few minutes powered on.)

I now pay for a flickr account and upload them there to keep them safe as well as keeping copies on an external disk.

ddrescue isn't very user friendly but knowing the pain of losing photos, if anyone is stuck and the free Windows tools don't help, I'll have a go. I won't charge other than for postage and if you can hand deliver and collect then it will cost you zero...

i deleted over 1000 pics (on purpose). for various reasons i needed to retrieve them, and even though i had taken new photos on the card A1 computers in Caninteely recovered pretty much everything for me. I think it cost approx 30 euro.

    good luck

There are many photo recovery software are available to recover deleted photos from memory stick. I have used digital media recovery software to recover deleted photos from my memory stick. Along with memory stick, this software also supports XD cards, CF cards, MMC, SD cards etc. Do not save or copy new data over memory stick because, this may overwrite your old photos with new data resulting in permanent photo loss. You can download free demo version to evaluate recovery results. If your satisfied with recovery results then you can use full version to save recovered photo.

That option appears very expensive (compared to earlier mentioned options of photosrecovery €30, and free for photorec) and I presume the demo (free) version won't actually recover the files.

i managed it the other day with recuva - recovered 507 of 513 deleted photos from a card, from my parent's holiday.

    hi meathgirl,

if you didn't found a solution already.. i use the file recovery from auslogics to help my family out with their deleting mistakes. Until now i was able to recover almost all files. (http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/file-recovery)

I got is as a part of their boostspeed software but i saw that you can download it as a separate program too. It costs $ 49. But during the trial period (i thought 14 days) you can use the full program without any restrictions.

It works for hard disk but also for usb sticks, flash drives etc.

    hope you will succeed!
