Hi, I posted this in the wrong section before so Im re-asking it, since I asked mods to close it, since it wasnt in the correct forum

for anyone who has a iphone and uses facebook chat on it, do they automatically log into their facebook when they go on their phone as often I notice friends who I talk to on facebook who use facebook on the iphone, come up as "idle" as in the half moon stance on chat the minute they log on but when we chat normally its fully green. Often when I bring up chat they dont reply when its idle, but it comes up as idle the minute they log on, Im wondering is it that they have gone off facebook but the phone hasnt logged them out.....hope Im not being paranoid at this stage...lol. As I havent fallen out with any of these people, but Im wondering is that subject to the iphone chat.

I wouldn't get paranoid I just think it's an issue with the facebook app. If I use facebook on my iPhone most of the time it will notify me that someone is chatting to me by vibrating but when I log on to facebook through a computer I have found a couple of friends old chat messages coming up which mean they were trying to chat when I was logged on through my phone but the app never notified me so I didn't respond. So as I said it's an issue with the app.

thanks but what I'm wondering is, does the iphone sometimes log in automatically if you go on your phone and not nescessarly facebook. As I said, they would come online as "idle" the minute they log on.

They might be using a chat app like BeeJive or IM+. I'm always logged into Facebook on my iPhone using BeeJive and have my status permanently set to away. So if you were chatting with me while I am on my phone you would always see a half moon.

hi, jester, its more that when they come online they come online straight away as idle, and might go offline within seconds, I did hear, it sometimes randomly logs in to check for updates, but I dont know. I was just wondering that when they unlock their phone, does facebook automatically start

The FaceBook App is fairly buggy to be honest. I regularly have problems with it, be it chat or loading photo sets.

Have to agree with the above, chat is beyond buggy. Completely hit or miss! I do know that Android phones stay logged in as a I have a few friends that are always "online" but not actually online, just the app keeps them on chat unless the specifically sign out. That moon thing is the idle symbol for everything, be it phone or browser and it will always go green once they chat, no matter from where it is. As for iPhone, I'm not totally sure, I used to get a random vibrate on my phone and it was only after I happened to check the chat part of the app did I notice open chats that I did not start. One friend commented that he thought I was online when I actually wasn't, it was just the app. So now I make a conscious point to have the Facebook app chat signed out all the time unless I use it.

If you double cick the home button, you can see what apps are running on the bottom 'undeshelf' (for want of a better word)

If you press one of them for a couple of seconds a red delete line appears and you cna close the apps fully.

If you open facebook on your iphone and don't do this, you'll be listed as online/idle all day (I have my settings as offline anyway to save this thign)
