Hey guys just looking for advice on a new house alarm. My house is not pre-wired for one and is a bungalow with 16 windows, front and back door, and 2 patio doors. What sort of price range would I be looking at for this? Thanks.

If your house is not pre-wired then i wouldn't bother with the window contacts or door contacts.

Just put PIR's in the rooms, seeing as you can wire them from above and mount them tight to the ceiling. It's not quite as good a level of protection but it's better than nothing

List the quantities of PIR's you'll need and I'm sure someone will give you an idea of cost

I would never advise PiRs only. Someone has to be in the house before the alarm will activate.A bungalow is the easiest to wire. You could also use some wireless.
Post up some info on the amount of windows and doors etc.

thanks for getting back to me guys, my shed was robbed 2 nights ago and everythin (chainsaw, strimmers, lawnmower, tools etc) were all taken so it was probably the kick up the arse i needed to get the house sorted. i have the number of windows etc listed above. at the moment they're all single glazed teak but i had a guy coming next week anyways before the robbery had taken place to install double glazing.

Off the top of my head around € 1200 for a wired system covering all windows and 1 PiR.

1200 would be the top of my budget...i got a quote off eircom phonewatch for well over 3000...ridiculous...who would be the next best crowd to install it and excuse my ignorance but what's a PIR?

A PiR is a motion detector.
    Where are you located?
Look up the PSA register Here for a licenced company in your area.
    Next best??
What gives you the impression Eircom are better than everyone else.
Shop around you will get better service, better value & better equipment.

Eircom are a bit of a joke and a complete ripp off to be honest with you.Typical I suppose.

I laughed down the phone at the Eircom saleswoman when she told me their quote was very good value for money.

Shop around and look around too, better and quality and cheaper than Eircom out there.

I would recommend Altor for alarms,he did my house and the system he installed was and is brilliant.

Great value for money too.Hes a fully qualified and certified alarm installer.PM him for his contact details and a quote.
