    All advice welcome.

7 litres Oil, Oil, air, fuel and pollen filters.
New wishbones and bushes, maybe 2 shocks.

Mileage is now 165,000 miles. Car serviced every 15k.

Auto gearbox oil change not due until 180,000miles.

Brakes and tyres are pretty new.

I always clean the MAF too while I'm at it, check the plenum drains. If you haven't done them in a while, look at both belts too - they're cheap, but not easy to change unless you've got arms like Arnie and a 24 spanner.

While you're underneath check the bushes on the trailing arms of the front wishbones.

How hard is the MAF to clean. I fixed the plenums.

Anyone know if there is any issue with our M47 engines turbo's

If the breather filter hasn't been changed every 2nd service there may well be ;) Cheap and easy to do :)

Generally not, they're more reliable than the 320D's version anyway.

Check the crankshaft pulley rubber bushing, they perish after 80-90K and give the impression of an oil pressure problem noise, very loud on tickover going quiet as you increase revs.

My mechanic even took the sump of to check the pick up filter before sussing it but it's a common problem, easily fixed but the pulley will set you back a €100+

Ok then here is my updated list

7 litres Oil, Oil, air, fuel and pollen filters.
New wishbones and bushes, anti roll bars stabs.

    clean MAF
    check crankshaft pulley

this is all getting to complex for me, can anyone here recommend a garage who knows what they are at with these cars.

    I live in celbridge.

I have been reading up on the egr, and i was thinking of bypassing it.

If you are happy to change oil you'll have no bother with the breather filter :)

The work you propose doing is well within scope of the average DIY mechanic with basic tools, the trailing arm bush is a bit of bitch to get at,I cut off the end of the wishbone near the bush with an angle grinder for easier access.

I feel ok doing the oil and filter service, the egr maf and wishbones and bushes will be over my head.

Can anyone recommend a garage who are used to this engine.

MAF replacement and EGR blanking aren't difficult, you don't have to tear the engine apart or anything.

Ok so yeasterday changed the oil, 6.5 litres, then Oil, air, fuel and pollen filter done, car driving better already. Air filter was manky. Also this was the 1st time in 3 services that I drained the oil, usually use the suction pump.

    Should I both

er with the MAF as the new air filter seems to have made a difference.

Also what symptoms would show an EGR issue?

Anyway I am ordering the new Wishbones and bushes and I am getting genuine rover. Would anyone here like to do this job?
