Following on from my uber-popular Christmas Wishlist thread , here's what I actually got.

    Did you get anything nice?

This is a bit light for my tastes, but seems well balanced and is good fun

I got the hero pack for Last Night on Earth. It didn't stop me going on a spending spree around the time on other games.

If ya get the chance can you tell me how that game plays? The price tag of 60yos is putting me off...

Same basic system as Last Night on Earth. It's tough to kill a hero that's well played, Martians are easy.

It's good fun and the theme is well done. The strategy element amounts to searching for scenario items, so the more you search the luckier you get!

€60 is a lot for a game that is a little short on scenarios and player characters - which I expect will be addressed through expansion packs later - but if three or four people get four or five plays out of it I'd regard it as worth it.

IMHO LNOE is a superior game, both for the play and the theme.

    Thanks.

I did figure it mightn't be as good as LNOE but I heard you can use both combined for some mega-game. Though I dread re-boxing that session :D

Any plans for post xmas games?

I went a bit mental myself. I've only really been getting into the hobby the last year..

I'm gonna go shopping in a couple of weeks, or I may just pop over to the stalls in warpcon. I have a new gaming group in Cork so I need to pick up some games that I love and just want my own copies of games that I never bothered picking up because members of my old group had them.

    Puerto Rico
    Pandemic
    Battle Line
    Small World

And there are some others that I have never played, but I would like to give them a go.

    Decent
    Chaos in the old world
A game of thrones (really really want this, it looks like diplomacy on steroids)
    Hive
