Whirpool Double Oven door shattered

I have a Whirlpool double oven, the glass on the outer door shattered while the oven was on. The oven had only been on 20 minutes at 170 when it happened. Nobody was near it at the time.

I've rang Whirpools Irish number about getting it fixed, they were a complete joke, I got transferred 5 times before somebody took my details to call back. I even got put through to the UK parts where i was ordering the part until they told me I had to order it through the Irish parts, even though it was the Irish service number that put me through.

Does anybody know anywhere else that can supply and fit the outer glass? Is the over still Ok to use, it has to other layers of glass on the door. I tried it last night and it seemed fine so was wondering if the outer layer of glass was purely cosmetic?

can ye post up the model number and which glass broke, outer top or outer bottom. we deal with a few places that do spares so could give them a shout.

Ye sure. Model is Akz196/ix or 858519615023. It was the outer glass on the larger door of the double oven. Thanks

    Cool thanks.

Sure hope I can get part for cheaper than that, that works out over €300, the entire double oven didn't cost a whole lot more.

on the basis of the details you posted i can find two places that can order it in. they are both based in dublin and im still unsure if one of them deals directly with the public. ill pm you the details when i have found that out.

I had the inner glass on my oven shatter on me last year. After being left wait in twice, the engineer turned up, told me he'd have to order the part and left, returning a week later. He fits it in 5 minutes flat and hands me a bill for 150 euro. I had assumed it was covered by warranty, but apparently not. When I tried to argue he told me if I didn't like it he would take the glass and leave. Fair enough I thought.

20 mins later, I had ordered the part from espares.co.uk (I think I had to add a random postcode to get the order form to work). You can search by model number so you're sure it's the right part. It came to £38 plus £9 for delivery. Arrived in a couple of days and fitted perfectly.
