Many thanks - will look into points raised re auctions. Do you or anyone else know about this cash for cars business though? There is a place at the Naas Rd motor mall (where EP Mooney used to be) advertising cash for cars... I cannot fathom how that would benefit either seller or buyer though... I just wondered if others knew anything about them....

You won't get what you car is worth from the likes of these not even close.
What spec is you car? Mileage?

Benefit to them: they offer you very little cash, then sell it on for a bit more.

Benefit to you: you get cash for your car without having to advertise, answer calls/texts, meet potential buyers, put up with time-wasters, worry about test drivers insurance etc. etc.

They will give you below auction price so they cannot lose.
    Avoid.

They offered me €600 for a car(that had Passed its NCT that day), that I sold the next day for €2000 (an hour after advertising it).

In other words, Expect to be insulted If you go to them.

I emailed them last week. They offered me €4,000 for my 05 Audi A3. Average price on Carzone approx €9000 - €10,000.

    Cheeky feckers :)

Have you tried selling it privately? Unless you are ultimately desperate for cash at the minute I would rather set it on fire than give it away to these type of places.

They are the motoring equivilant of pawn shops.
