Hop-Up rubbers

I have an Ares G36 with stock hop unit and prometheus barrel.

I've been using the stock rubber for a while now and since I had a few bob at christmas picked up a Guarder clear. Problem is power is dramatically down, so much so I'll be switching back to the stock rubber.

I suspect it's just not forming a good enough seal with the air nozzle (the difference is about 40fps with .25g G&Gs) as the fit of the Guarder is much looser than the fit of the stock rubber.

What other hop-up rubbers would people recommend given the Guarder doesn't work for me. Or is it peoples opinion that it just needs time to seat in.

Wrapping plumber's tape around the non-business end of the rubber to seal off any leak between it and the barrel is a good place to start. I have some if you want to try.

Much, much, much fiddling later I've solved the guarder issue (thanks to Shane), it was leaking air between the barrel and rubber.

Unfortunately all this fiddling has worn out the thread on the little screw hole that holds my barrel (and therefore hop-up) immobile which has had an effect on my consistency. Since it's just a tapped hole in a little soft metal block does anyone know where I could get it tapped again (and a slightly bigger screw to go in it)?

Just use a a self tapping screw in a slightly larger size to the screw your replacing. Always worked for me.
