Hi folks, i was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some information or advice on a problem i have at the moment. Im doing a project for university at the moment, and i was looking for an episode from a show that was broadcast on RTE abck in the late 1990s. I understand the chances are slim at best, but i was just wondering if RTE does have a vault of sorts, where they store old television shows, and if it was possible for the public to obtain any specific episodes of seasons. Obviously i would happily pay any fees incurred, but its just more to ask if anyone knows if this is possible or not, and how to go about it if it is.

    Thanks for any help!

They do, but it's pricey, you're talking hundreds of Euros, and I think they still only telecine out to VHS tapes.

You'll need to know the exact programme and episode that you're looking for.

Hunt around on the RTE website...the details are in there somewhere.

When i contacted RTE they informed me that it was actually a show produced by TV3 and to contact them. When i did, TV3 told me that they did not offer any service like RTE has with archive footage, and that they dont offer distribution of old programmes.
What i have been looking for is an episode of a comedy travel show called "Messrs Tylack and Rooney" which was broadcast in 1997 i believe. It featured the Irish comedian namesakes Paul Tylack and Joe Rooney travelling around various locations in Ireland, and ive been searching for a copy of the episode wich involved the two of them staying in Mosney Holiday Centre in County Meath. I used to have the VHS recording of this, but since moving out of my parents house a few years back, its turned out that thy have thrown out all of the VHS tapes they ever had. So unless i find a needle in a haystack (if any!) of someone who has a similar recording, then i will never see the episode again. :(
