A4 Avant '02 - Mysterious Beeps.

'Hope I'm not making a fool of myself here, but can't answer my question having gone through the manual.

Since the cold weather, whenever I start the car first thing after laying up overnight it starts w/o issue, but then a series of 4 short beeps (bips even) are sounded from somewhere in the rear of the car.

This only happens as I said when the car has been parked for a good few hours and not every time I unlock it and start it.

Everything appears to be in good working order.

Any opinions?

No parking sensors. It does have the factory fitted alarm and my best guess is that the beeps are a warning that an independent battery for the alarm system has run down.

I can find no reference to it though in the manual.

I got curious and had a quick google. Have a look at this, it refers to the A2 but it sounds like your theory is correct: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4350&page=2

Thanks for that Anan1. I was on an A4 owners site last night but probably should have just done a straight google on it.

Anyways, I dont think my old dog carrying workhorse will be top of any thieves list any time soon so that's one issue I'll leave be unless it actually creates further problems!

Could it be an Ice Warning? My BMW beeps on start up and the outside temp display flashes when it's below 3c.
