End Of Contract Payments And P45

Hi. I was wondering if anyone had issues with their income when their contract ended.

I just finished up a contract with a major IT company in Dublin. The problem is, the middle-man company I had to go through pays once a month, meaning I have to wait a full month until I get all the monies owed to me. I am not worried about them paying me, the issue is I cannot get a P45 until all the checks are in, therefore I cannot start a new contract, companies won't speak to me, and I can't even sign on for a month (six weeks actually) as even social welfare needs the P45 to have you sign on.

What is a person to do with over a full month of no work and no source of income?

Just a follow up in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation -

Social welfare let me sign on after I got a letter from my accountant detailing the story and saying they would have my P45 to them as soon as it was available.

Similarly you could have started work at a new company and given them a P46 (download a copy from revenue.ie), and given Revenue a 12a if you really wanted to be sure.
