    Hi,

Does anybody know does an individual have to have done any particular courses in order to work as a care assistant e.g. in a nursing home?

Or where would you look to get this info?

    many thanks

I am not sure what the legal requirements are at present, but to do childcare you need a minimum of a Fetac level 5, and it is likely that you will need something similar for Care. Certainly it would be easier to get a job with the qualification.

Fetac do various Care Asstant courses for care of the elderly, special needs, etc, enquire at your local VEC and see what is available. You could also look in the Fetac/Plc section of Edu. here on Boards.
