What do people think of this car??

Its a very decent price I think having looked at other similar cars. Is the millage very high? What are common problems to look out for?

Haven't a clue about buying a car, have a budget of €4000 and want to get a 2003 or 2004, medium sized car, corolla, civic, focus, either 1.4 or 1.6.

Thanks for any advice, it is much appreciated!

I'd be wary of the high mileage but that's why it's priced low. If you've a budget of 4k, i'm sure there is some room for negotiation and could look at something with lower mileage even if it is older.

I picked up a 2003 2.0l vtec civic there before christmas, great car, lovely driving position, gearstick is so handy where its located. The boot is nice and big, and being able to fold the back seats down is very handy for my mountainbike (most my previous cars were saloons). And also, Hondas are very reliable, but parts are cheap enough and easy to get if you do have any problems.

Thanks for the feedback, I figured that was why it was priced the way it is. 125000 is a lot of miles, esp as I plan to put a decent amount of miles up too!

Great to hear good things about the Civic! A friend has one and have driving it a few times and its a lovely drive, and has a surprising amount of space inside, and is very comfie! Thanks too for the info on the parts etc, good to know!

If it has been regularly serviced (correct oil, etc.), the mileage wouldn't worry me, tbh. Verify the service history, and have it checked by your mechanic. Honda engines are normally good for hundreds of thousands of miles if properly looked after.

Thanks for the advice, I am very tempted by the price and looks like a nice car.

It is a 1.6 i, What is the difference in spec? Is this a more basic model?

That looks like an SE model which adds rear electric windows and alloy wheels over the base S model. It is also the facelifted model which looks a little better than the older model. Possibly a UK import as most sold here were basic S models and the facelifted model I think didn't appear here until early 2005.

125k miles is high enough but the price reflects it and these cars are well able to handle the mileage. But like any car if it wasn't maintained/serviced properly or regularly then it will break your heart and wallet.

Cheers for the info, really dont have a clue so appreciate the advice. The garage have said that it had one previous owner, who purchased the car new in Monaghan I think. So it may have been a UK import. I am planning to go see it next weekend so will ask all my questions then! Will get the car history too to check the milage etc. I dont really know any mechanics to be honest, but I assume that I could ring around the area and get someone to have a look?

It does look like a UK spec model.

Defnately have a recommended mechanic give it a look over, also verify the service history with the garages who carried out the work.

    Best of luck.

IF you do 15k miles a year there will be a really high mileage on that in 2 years time, I wouldn't pay over 3000 for that if its sound and straight.
