Thinking of buying a Suzuki ignis 2005, one owne from new, high mileage - 115k but good price - €3500, most others of that age are going for closer to €5000, obviously because of mileage. Any thoughts?

Has it got a full service history and NCT?

Good question, I'll check on Monday. Thanks, T.

They are quite narrow, leany, not that pretty, unrefined, and the interior is like something from the 80s. You can do so much better on a 1.3 small car.

I was kinda hoping for more thoughts on the mechanical side of it? I can see what it looks like and I'm happy enough to take it as it is, just wondering about a 120k mileage car?

They're bullet proof really, just take it for a long drive and watch for overheating or misfiring, get mechanic to check cv joints and drive shafts.

Not sure if it has a timing belt or chain, if its a belt, check its been done

Thanks, just checked the suzuki forum and it seems it has a chain - does that mean i don't need to worry about it?

Same engine & 'box as in the Corolla VVTi. So the usual caveats apply (check for burning oil, ask the owner about high oil consumption, check the gearshift isn't clonky / notchy / sloppy)

Isn't the 1.3 Suzukis own m series engine?
Unlikely its the toyota 1398cc vvt-i as the Suzukis engine is 1328cc

I did hear before that the 1.5 in the ignis is from the original yaris but I'm not sure that's true either.
