Just wondering if you think €8,500 is a good price for a 2006 1.9 diesel vw golf with 66000 miles on it assuming its in good condition good service history etc. tax €585 (timing belt needs to be done on it so would have to do that after i get it so thats an extra cost)

golfs are supposed to be easy to resell in later years, do you think because it is in the high tax bracket (as is not a july 2008 onwards car hence does not qualify for the low tax of €156) that it will be difficult to sell on in later years - as people might buy the 2008 ones instead in future years because of the low tax.

    many thanks

If the seller is a dealer it might be a cheaper option for them to do the belt. Get a few quotes from garages and then approach them.

I wouldn't worry about an 06 wrt lower tax.
