ever been to a wedding reception where either the hotel or the bride and groom did something small but was really different or thoughtful?? was at one last year and they had lots of retro sweets which you could put into little plastic bags, stuff like apple jacks, postman pats, wham bars, etc. thought it was a great little idea!
looking for ideas for my own day so let me know if there was anything else different at a wedding that you thought was nice! cheers! :)

Sorry totally OT but Apple jacks?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Are you sure they were apple jacks!? I've been looking for them for years but can't find them anywhere! Could you please find out where they got them! :D

    PS
I think that's a lovely idea - retro sweets are great! Or how about little bags of jellies, etc?

DIY and personalised touches at a wedding are really hot this year. have a look at irish wedding blogs such as http://onefabday.com/ and http://www.thebridallounge.ie/weddingbelles/

and others such as http://www.stylemepretty.com/ and http://www.diybride.com/

Don't leave your wedding up to the vendor to decorate. Personalise it!

Some couples do a basket for the toilets - mints, tights, deodorant, plasters etc.

Or if it's a summer wedding could you have games with your drinks reception - giant jenga, treasure hunt, pinata for kids.....

Inflatable guitars for an air guitar showdown late at night!

Ya we plan on doing that - I know which guests will jump at the chance!

We did a few little bits and pieces:

We put sweets in jars around the venue, some on the bar, bar tables and random places around the venue.

Flip flops for the girls. I bought about 20 pairs (100 guests) in penneys for just €1 (bargain!) and they were put on the side of the dance floor during the evening.

My bridesmaids made up baskets for the bathrooms. They were fab, the girls put a lot of effort into them plus it was a good thing to hand over to them as they were mad to do stuff for the wedding.

Our venue had a fire circle outside so we put blankets on the chairs. This went down a storm, we had beautiful weather but late in the evening all the girls in summer dresses were very grateful.

my cousin hand painted stones with everyones name and a used them as place names

she also handed all the disposable camera.

each person also got an personalized envelope with note from the bride and groom thanking us for coming.

all the top table got hand painted wine glasses
