Building an M203 - (looking for help)

Howya lads, just wondering if there are any threads out there on the interweb about building your own M203?

I can't imagine it'd be the most complicated thing in the world (famous last words) with a bit of piping, trigger assembly, and mount.

Any chance someone has posted about trying this before? I vaguely remember it being mentioned, but can't for the life of me find the thread.

    Thanks for any help,
    Jack

To be honest I can't see any advantages of making your own, they are really common and can be bought for reasonably prices. With all the time, money and effort that you would have to put in to make one doesn't seem justifiable.

If your gunna make something custom make something unique!

See, they all seem to be around the 80-150 price range, which, for something I would consider a novelty, is a bit steep. Especially when the same thing can be achieved with some PVC, brackets and black paint for less than 20.

And, while I am not the most technically gifted with fiddly parts, I'd like to have a go at it. It may not be as aesthetically pleasing as professional ones, but for a laugh, it's worth looking into in my opinion.

I'm just looking for any specs anyone else might have just to give me a rough guideline, and things to watch out for

I thought about building one myself out of PVC piping, but could never find any that would fit. As 40mm PVC piping refers to the external diameter. The only thing I found suitable was copper piping (and I need that for another project I'm doing). So when I saw the cheap launcher like the one Thermo linked to I just bought it instead. As I couldnt think of a cheap/easy enough way of making a reliable trigger mechanism anyway.

Since it's 3 against one I suppose I'm better off sticking to the real deal.

Thanks thermo for the link, and everyone for the advice.

On a side note, when I'm buying 40mm grenades, will I need to be careful about buying overseas with the 1 joule limit, or would they all be under it?

    Hi J.D.R.,

Don't worry about the power of 40mm grenades, they will only be as powerful as the propulsion gas you use. However be careful to buy grenades that work with your launcher, some can have fitting issues, i.e. madbull's nades don't fit in some other launchers.

Make sure not to go for really cheap grenades as the valves will not be good quality and will need regular replacement.

Good luck with it whatever you decide.

Thanks collie. While I will happily scrimp on the launcher, I do know you get what you pay for in terms of quality, so grenades will be top quality.

Whenever I get around to getting the money for it :/

Thanks for all the help lads
