Interesting post, you are asking for GPS on Ipad and then you state you have Iphone....

I have Iphone 3GS on 4.1 , no issues with GPS or battery on 4.1 , mind you i have turned off Apple's quasi-multitasking , have 3G enabled when i need it , Notifications off , Bluetooth off . I get about 3 days from battery this way and i might say i use the phone a couple hours a day or more.

Be careful you don't run out of oxygen up on that high horse of yours and try showing members some better manners, it's a forum, not a know all soapbox.

Sorry if i came accross that way, i was only looking for further clarification (which you have now provided in somewhat aggressive manner) and I was attempting to provide some help by guessing at the problem with information available.

I do apologies to OP if my response seems to be belittling. That was not my intention. I genuinely wanted to contribute something as there was no other contributions.

Open to correction but as far as I have seen, no! The baseband for the iPad supports a different GPS chipset that is used in the iphone 3gs.

It has been said that the iphone dev-team will begin work on a possible downgrade of the baseband once the iphone4 unlock has been finished. This downgrade imo will result in losing the carrier unlock as people who updated to 6.15 baseband to unlock will lose their exploit but gain their GPS. But who knows, the dev-team could play a blinder a figure out a way to unlock without losing the GPS, while also downgrading the baseband.

On a side note, the baseband upgrade exposes you (and me) to apple as voiding our warranty. A baseband downgrade will remove this obvious voiding of our warranties.

Regarding the battery life, I have a 9mth year old 3gs and I turned off all the notifications and have decent battery life, maybe about 1.5days with reasonable use (not used as a work phone).
