Haye v A Klitschko

Well folks, it looks like David Haye has failed in his "dream" of luring Wlad into the ring.

What the hell is going on here?? Wlad pulls out of the Chisora fight and everything points to him lining up a shot at Haye. is Haye full of hot air??? Interestingly even Glen McCrory who is part of the resident sky nut hugging Haye fan club has started to turn on Haye. He reckons that Bernd Boente is a reasonable man, and not the parasite that Haye and Booth make him out to be.

If anything, I say fair play to Wlad for not dishonouring his commitment to fight Chisora, even though we all know which fight we would prefer.

Also interestingly enough you never see Haye or Booth mention Vitali at all. Its like he doesn't exist to them. He insists on fighting little brother first. Saying that, Vitali has a mandatory with Odlanier Solis coming up.

This talk of retirement too is a load of rubbish, its a marketing ploy, he'll make a hell of a lot more money coming out of "retirement" for a unification fight. The question is does he really want it?? He cannot be serious with his talk leaving a legacy in the heavyweight division after fighting Bonin, Barrett, Valuev, Ruiz and Harrison FFS!

Personally, I cannot stand that smug boll*x Adam Booth. Always comes across very smarmy on tv when hes being interviewed. This might be controversial but I don't think the 2 lads genuinely love the sport of pro boxing. Haye has one eye on marketing himself for the movies, a loss to either bro would kill his credibility as a wannabe Hollywood hardman.

And Haye is Booth's meal ticket. I don't think George Groves is going beyond the domestic scene.

Wlad now scheduled to fight Adamek in August

more power to Adamek for taking on this fight, fair play to him. A guy who moves up to heavyweight and actually stays active. And doesn't claim to be the saviour of the division despite actually paying his dues.

its obvious you hate haye, what more can he do to fight wlad, hahaha fight for free with a blindfold, what is wlads legacy after all these years, prob the most over rated heavyweight ever imo, one shot off haye and he goes down for the 12 time

I think anyone who trully loves the fight game could not warm to Haye. He wouldn't be a fighter who would earn the respect of the hardcore fight fans.

I'm not a big Wlad fan, but he acts like a champion. He has a dignity about him, and despite what people say these "bums" he has fought are all top 10 contenders and mandatorys. Chisora isn't but hes a British Champ and fair play to Wlad for keeping his word and honouring that fight.

Haye has thrown his toys out of the pram here. I think Haye is lacking in guts to be honest which is a huge shame, he could potentially trouble Wlad but Wlad is too seasoned.

Also I think my point about Vitali is valid, why doesnt Haye ever mention him? He knows he can't beat him thats why. If he fought Vitali first then he would never get to Wlad after Vitali knocks him out.

Haye has allowed himself to fall into the trap of being another Sky Sports hype job. And its sad because he does have some skills.

But he doesnt love boxing. Being undisputed champ is attractive to him because of the opportunities in other areas.

Chisora is ranked 9th by boxrec, and at the time the fight was announced he was 15th so not a bad oppo and although there are more worthy contenders who have not had a shot, they are few and far between.

Haye will prob fight Chageav and then a Kiltscko in November. Then pretend he is retiring to sell a fight in 2012 with the other brother should he win the first one.

I see you have been fooled by the Haye/Booth propaganda, the guy wants nothing to do with the Klitschkos and anybody with a genuine interest in boxing knows it.

this and the mayweather pacquiao circus is the type of bulls*hit that piss*es me off, when you see how UFC / Strickforce continually match the top in their sport its no wonder the masses are turning off boxing to mma.

Just put the big fights on that the sport and the supports want

I personally think Haye/Booth are a pack of c*nts, but I was reading some of the demands the Klits were making and it was ridiculous. You'd think that once the money side of things was settled both sides would be making concessions to make the fight happen. There should have been a bit of sway from the brothers too to make it happen but they seem fairly rigid in their demands.

I heard that in one of the original rounds of negotiations, that Haye had to fight the other brother directly after, and if he won a rematch of the first fight after that... while the money I'd imagine would have been deadly, it's not a slave contract but it's still bull****.

Haye is a coward, but the brothers should waver a bit on some issues to make it happen, knock seven shades of **** out of him, and save me having to read/see David Haye.

there is a very simple solution to this. if we accept at face value that Wlad is ducking Haye( i don't by the way) then if Haye is sincere about creating a legacy before retiring in October he has to fight Vitali.

jaysus, if Haye bores you how the hell could you put up with the HW division without him ?

whatever about his over-confidence and the bulls*it that comes with him he has excited what has been an otherwise boring HW scene.

why does he need to retire ? hes making money ....

to make sweeping statements that all his fans are brits and the whole lot of them don't know anything about boxing is a bit silly, what proof have you got ?, yes you get the larger lout types but there are plenty of knowledgable boxing people in the UK who support him.

people in the UK are Brits.

Anyway, how has he made the heavyweight scene exciting? In 3 years he has fought Ruiz, Monte Barrett, Valuev and Audley Harrison. 4 shocking opponents, 4 shocking fights. His opponents' ages were 39, 39, 37 and 38 in those fights....wow i really am delighted he came to clean out the Heavyweight division.

eh, and whats your point ?
All his fans are Brits or people who don't know the first thing about boxing.

So what if they are Brits (or from the UK) ? how do you know that some of the people who support him don't know the first thing about boxing ?

He has made it more exciting than what it was / would be without him - do you disagree ?. If he wasn't in it tell me what fights / fighters would have got you watching over the last 2 years?.

I can't stand him and his hype, but without him I wouldn't have been arsed watching any HW fights over the last while.

    I'll gladly answer your points.

No he's hasn't made the heavyweight division more exciting, like the previous poster mentioned he's fought 4 fights on the verge of their 40's. The fights weren't even that interesting, and the Audley Harrison fight was so bad they were thinking of taking his purse, he was so pathetic.

So no, it's not more exciting, what would have been more exciting is if he had backed up all the mouthing off he did since he came into the division. Solis, Adamek, and the brothers, these are fights he could have taken any time in the last 2 years. He has failed to "make" either of them.

The Adamek fight is about to be signed with about 5 days worth of negotiating, that is an interesting fight. Haye's next fight he'll be forced to fight because it's his mandatory.

For newspaper spin, Haye has been great. For actual boxing as a sport he's been a disgrace.

He talks about legacy, Haye was a great cruiserweight but as a heavyweight he's done nothing. The Klitschko's have beat a lot of useless ****ers recently but who is there left to fight.

Haye has had three opportunities to make the fight, while he may not be to blame for all of the negotiations, he should be the one looking for the fight, he is the one claiming he was going to unify the division, and he's also the one putting the self imposed retirement date on his career when he's in great shape, young and hasn't been in too many wars.

Alexander Povetkin has said he doesn't want to fight either of the brothers and has pulled out of mandatories.

Ruslan Chagaev lost to Wlad about three fights ago.

Eddie Chambers got horsed by a Wlad.

Valuev got beat by Haye, and turned down 3 million to fight Vitali.

I could go through the whole list but the only dangerous men in the list are Adamek and Solis (who is fat as ****, and he's to sort out his fitness to be a proper challenge)

    Haye is a joke.

He should feck off and retire, boxing is better off without characters like him. The way he badmouths the Klitschkos, criticises their opponents and accuses them of ducking him is so ironic and pathetic. Any man who gives Audley Harrison a title shot shouldn't be taken seriously. Haye is truly the cancer of boxing. He is to boxing what Josef Fritzl is to parenting. Apologies if I'm going overboard but he drives me demented with his antics. The Sky hype him up like he's the second coming of Ali. How Haye/Harrison received more media coverage than Khan/Maidana is beyond me. The latter promised to be a great fight, and it certainly lived up to that. Haye/Harrison promised to be a joke and no question it was.

I'm not sure if Haye will keep his promise of retiring before the age of thirty one, but if he does then so be it. The only pity is we won't get to see a Klitschko smash his face in.

Guarantee if the media latched on to it and there were calls to fight Vitali instead, Haye would try and convince us Vitalis ducking him too. Some of the stuff he's saying about Wlad is scandalous. I've zero respect for David Haye. He'll probably end up giving Audley a rematch:eek:

Bit over dramatic, cancer is a bit strong, he was a deadly cruiserweight in fairness, but he was one of the worst heavyweights I've had to endure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,017 ✭✭✭colly10

I was delighted to see Haye move up to the heavyweight division. I had hoped he would do well at heavyweight and help promote the sport.

Since then he has been nothing but a disappointment. Himself and Booth are clearly afraid of Vitali and feel they have no chance of winning, I can back that up with a clip of how they react when his name is mentioned if anyone here doesn't believe it's the case, considering he has shown nothing but disrespect in the early days for Vitali after moving up I find that particularly cowardly.

Haye does not really want either of them, the most important thing to him is making people believe he does, his excuses after the last round of negotiations (where he demanded alot more than 50/50 - which again I can show you the clip of him stating his demands) were nothing short of a joke.

As for Adam Booth, easily the most irritating character in boxing, his conduct is a disgrace and the thing that irritates me most about him is that he sees himself as such a genius, he feels that none of us can work it out. Only clowns or casual fans can't see through him at this stage and it's a pity there's enough of them out there that this chap has a nice little earner.

Haye (a guy I once respected) has done nothing but tarnish the image of boxing. I went to the pub to watch the Audley fight, the atmosphere leading up to it was incredible but for all the people there (who see probably one fight a year) I felt sick. This was the big fight they got to see and this shapes their image of boxing. It's just a pity that 90% of them wouldn't have seen the Pacquiao v Marg fight later that night, or maybe the Lopez v Marquez fight the week after or maybe even the Khan v Maidana fight after that.

Boxing could do without characters like Haye and Booth

Sounds funny, I'd like to see it.

Just watched it there, my memory wasn't perfect but watch the face from 10.50 - 12.00 of this clip. Why all the rolling of the eyes and all the weird expressions and looking at him like he's suggesting something bizarre. Zero intention of ever fighting Vitali, you can be sure of it -

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 942 ✭✭✭Bodhidharma

Ha ha, that clip is funny. I think Booth made a right knob of himself. Big stupid head on him.

Haye is all talk. Both Klitschko's would beat him, although he'd have a shot against Wladimir. I would pay to see Vitali shut him up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

That clip is magnificent, the look on Booths face is classic.

Saw Haye on Sky Sports news saying that the Klitschkos legacy will mean nothing if they dont fight him, Haye obviously has a warped view on his Heavyweight legacy then.

Yeah, I've only been watching Boxing a year or so. And I can't help but be unbearably bored by Haye. Klitschko is only a bit better.
What happened to fights like the Rumble in the Jungle? Heavyweight fights have gone to ****, Rocky Marciano was a God. The new ones are all bums.
The lighter classes are far more interesting, I'd much rather see Mayweather Vs Pacquiao than Haye Vs Klitschko. Just my humble opinion!

I could very well just be talking ****. Anyone at all agree with me?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭CorkMan

The heavyweights are quiet alright. The Klitschkos are the champions though, they would do good in any area, it was just until very recently when Haye arrived was there 0 contenders.

Odlanier Solis is a cuban heavyweight, he is fighting Vitali Klitschko in a months time and IMO he can beat Vitali. The division needs more contenders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

Yeah but there you go. Presumably it's a title shot yeah? I'm still much more looking forward to Khan vs. McCloskey even if it is a bit of a foregone conclusion.
I dunno, maybe it's just down to taste. But lighter, nippier boxing just appeals more than titanic monsters clubbing each other like trolls.
I honestly think Heavyweight divisions sum up what's wrong with boxing. They get all the hype, all the money and they're nearly always boring nowdays.

Again. The humble opinion of someone who is not a particularly massive fan of the sport.

IMO the lightweight/welterweight division is where the money is at these days. No heavyweight fight could earn as much as a Pacquiao-Cotto, Mayweather-De La Hoya or Pacquiao-Hatton, need I say Pacquiao-Mayweather it that happens.

If, for example, Solis beat Klitschko and Haye beat another Klitschko and they were to meet for unify the belt, I don't think it would earn half as much as Pacquiao-Mayweather.

According to the Sun boxing on twitter today it could be either brother. If Wlad doesn't overcome his injury then Vitali will step in. Seemingly it's a 1 fight deal too. No rematch clauses. Really hope this goes ahead.

Vitali is fighting Odlanier Solis on the 19th of March, so there would be enough time for Vitali to recover.
