SATA dvd drive

sorry if this appears somewhere else but i cant find it.

i recently purchased a SATAdvd drive that i want o install onto my pc...my previous 2IDE dvd drives have croaked it.

however i dont have a SATA power or signal connector .... i only have the old pin type IDE connectors....,

what do i do??? im a complete novice when it comes to these things....

is there a connector cable that goes from the IDE and power cables with a SARA head??

IDE is ancient, you would want a new mobo tbh,

sata is the norm for several years now, you can get ide > sata adapters but might lose the benefits

actually you can probably get SATA pci cards or the like for your mobo

if it was me, i would get a new mobo...

Otherwise maybe, an SATA PCI card if you have a spare slot on your motherboard for it.

thanks for that, thats what i was afraid of...

might just bite the bullet and upgrade everything... i assume getting anew motherboard would lead to other difficulties... such as loss of performance etc??

my pc is currently:

running XP SP3
pentium (R) D 3.00 ghz
3.0 ghz 1 GB RAM

i suppose thats very basic by todays standards???
the pc is running fine, not slow no bugs etc....

that appears to work.... but does that also supply power to teh drive?

I havent used one of those converters before, but if you look at the picture of you can see a white interface with four pins. This is similar to what is used to power the fans in the case, so you should be able to get a cable for this too.
