I have a feeling I know what the answer will be, but I wouldn't mind trying something other than ps3mediaserver to see if I get the same results. So, what do you use?

I had terrible issues with TVersity and Twonky, Windows was actually pretty good but PS3mediaserver is just so easy to use :)

Although I did use Nero for a while flawlessly

Buffering issues drive me insane, so I have to plug in the laptop for HD rips. I haven't really messed around with the settings though

I've tried them all and have gone back to just using Windows Media Player.
I was getting buffering issues with all of them using a wireless g network but since I've got some homeplugs in I've not had any trouble.

    Been using twonky for years.
Well before many of those in the list existed or were up to scratch.

Supports all my devices nicely - not just video on the PS3

Thought that was it, so basically a wired connection!

Ya, its perfect for me as my UPC box is beside my ps3 but my pc is at the other end of the apartment. For some reason the wireless signal between the 2 points was never strong.

    This is what I've got.

I think I can actually get a long enough cable for my PS, I must check taht out and see if the streaming works any better.

Have a 10 metre cable running from my router to my ps3 upstairs. Streaming is a hell of a lot better over the wired connection. Absolutely no lag playing games either so if its viable for you to use the cabling...do it.
