Commuting from Celbridge to Blanchardstown?

    Hi all,

I have an interview with a job out in the Blanchardstown Corporate park next week and was wondering how feasible it is that I would be able to get out to Blanch every day via public transport?

The best way I can see so far is to get the 67X into town and get the 40D from Parnell St but I'm not familiar with Blanchardstown at all, so maybe someone here can help me?

A few people I've spoken to have told me that Blanch is basically impossible to get to unless you have hours to spare waiting on buses or can drive. I'm not in a position to drive at the moment either, so public transport is my only option.

I live basically next to Hazelhatch station, if that accounts for anything. Any advice would be much appreciated (even if it's "forget it, you'd need to drive to get from Celbridge to Blanchardstown in under 2 hours")

I just had a look on googlemaps there but could not find Blanchardstown Corporate Park. Do you know exactly where it is?

Because an option might be to take the 67 to Maynooth (short journey), where you catch a train to Castleknock (another short journey), which is only 5-10 minutes' walk from Blanchardstown village. If the business park was within walking distance of Blanchardstown village this would be a better option than heading into town first.

It would still be inconvenient, but doable.

Maybe get someone with a car to take you to the area and drive around it to give you an idea of this place's proximity to the bus and train service. Good luck!

It would be a long walk from there from castleknock station.

You can take a train from Maynooth to coolmine and get the bus from there to blanchardstown corporate park as shown the timetable http://www.amconline.ie/routedetails.asp?a=timetable&id=7

    hope this help.

PS,I forgot to put in the location of that park. It up north of Corduff which you can see it on google map. A grey shaded area

Bus to Maynooth, train to Castleknock train station and UrBus to the Corporate Park... it stops right outside.

I have been commuting from Maynooth to this Corporate park (Ballycooling) using public transport.

I take the train from Maynooth to Castlenock, then walk to the Blanch village and take 38 bus to the Corporate Park.

About 1 hour 10 minutes one way, by car 27 minutes...

If you are going to commute from Celbridge to Corporate park it will take forever, by bus you can take 67 bus and then either 38 or 40d from the city centre. 38 only goes trough the park in the mornings and afternoons.

To be honest with you and I have been commuting there since 2007, first from Celbridge then from Maynooth, without the car forget it. You will last about one month.

For instance last week, one day I was late in work, so I took the bus from the park to Blanch village, then walked to Castlenock trainstation, only to find out that next train leaves to Maynooth at 20.22 and that time clock was 18.40...

So I had to take a bus 38 from village to city, then another bus 66 to Maynooth. I was home after 21.00.

Just forget this, would be my honest opinion or get a car.

If you plan to walk from Castlenock train station to the park it will take about 40-50 minutes.

Of course you can take a train from Celbridge to the city centre, then another train to Castlenock, then walk to the Blanch Village and then take a bus.

But anyway you do this, it will be awful, there is no other way to put this.

Yeah, I've been thinking about it and it's just not worth the hassle for what the job is. I'd have to get a lift to Celbridge village, wait on and get on a bus, 15 mins on the bus, wait on a train, get a train 20 mins on train, wait on the bus and get the bus from the train station... all so dependent on timing and just not for me at all.

If I could drive, my head would be sorted but for now... I don't think so.

One other possible solution to consider, if you're really set on it:

Bus 67 from Celbridge to Lucan Village
Bus 239 from Lucan Village to Blanch Centre
Bus 238 from Blanch Centre to Corporate Park, or bus 236 from Blanch Centre to just outside Corporate Park

    - or in the near future when all 76 buses will run to Blanch Centre:

Bus 67 from Celbridge to Lucan Road (Liffey Valley stop)
Bus 76 from Lucan Road (Liffey Valley stop) to Blanch Centre via M50
Bus 238 from Blanch Centre to Corporate Park, or bus 236 from Blanch Centre to just outside Corporate Park, or Bus 17A from Blanch Centre to top of Snugboro Road (15 minute walk to Corporate Park)

This is what we come up with: http://hittheroad.ie/#from=Hazelhatch&to=53.4066,-6.365396

I can't say whether a train would help yet, unfortunately we haven't had time to add the commuter train routes yet, but they will be going in soon.
